I started teaching in 2003.  I have  spent the majority of my  career at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, just outside of Chicago.  I teach darkroom Photography, all levels of studio art, including AP, and Ceramics and Design. I am certified in AP for Drawing, Design and 3D.  I also sponsor the National Art Honor Society.

I have a BA in Studio Art and Journalism form University of Iowa.  I earned my Masters in Art Education from Concordia College.  
Personally I consider myself a painter.  I LOVE to paint.  I typically gravitate toward paintings of the human form, but I’ve happily explored many subject matters.  My recent work has been more landscape, documenting my travels..
I am also a photographer and a mixed media artist.  I love too many mediums, therefore teaching is an ideal job.  I work with amazing and inspiring students who keep me young at heart, and together we work in all media (all but glass blowing and welding…and not for the lack of trying…we just don’t have the facility space).

As you can see above, I have an adorable family.  I’m the girl in the photo and the two handsome men in the photo are my husband Ezra and son Zev… We live in Chicago where I work on my own art…they gave me the basement 🙂

Outside of teaching and creating art, I love to travel, cook and run.
