Multilingual Department

The Multilingual Department at Maine Township High School District 207 supports students who are developing proficiency in English through a comprehensive and inclusive program.

Our goal is to ensure that students continue their academic progress while gaining confidence and fluency in the four domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. EL instruction is aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards, the Illinois Learning Standards, and College and Career Readiness Standards to prepare students for success beyond high school.

In addition to building strong language and literacy skills, the program emphasizes helping students with academic, social, and cultural life of the school community. We value each student’s multilingualism as an asset and celebrate the diverse experiences they bring to our classrooms.

Through collaboration among teachers, families, and support staff, we aim to empower multilingual learners to achieve academic excellence and to thrive as active participants in our global society.
