We’d like to provide information on an important change to school safety procedures that will be implemented across the district beginning at the start of the 2025–2026 school year.
First and foremost, general safety information related to our safety measures is available here. Additionally, the district continues to enhance its safety protocols. As an example the Crisis Go app was implemented that provides text messages to students in the event of an emergency and provides a way for us to communicate with students during a reunification event.
The newest safety enhancement will occur over the summer when each school will have door alarms and surveillance cameras installed on all exterior doors.
Currently, although not permitted, students open various exterior doors to let other students into the building or to exit during the school day for appointments, lunch or other reasons. This is a major safety concern. Therefore, beginning next school year, any opening of a secured exterior door will trigger an alarm, and the incident will be investigated. Every exterior door will also be monitored by security cameras so that school security and administration can identify who opened the door and take appropriate disciplinary action.
Additionally, next school year, all schools will have a limited number of doors available for entry by students and all will be supervised by security.
All other visitors (parents included) to the school after school starts must enter through the main entrance.
These measures are necessary to maintain a secure campus environment as unauthorized access to the building poses a significant safety risk to all students and staff. It is critical that everyone follows proper check-in and check-out procedures through the main office and uses only approved entrances and exits during the school day. Allowing someone into the building or exiting through an unauthorized door is a serious violation of our safety measures.
Clear signage will be posted near all doors and students will receive detailed guidance at the start of the school year about this change. These new measures reflect our district’s ongoing commitment to keeping our schools safe, secure, and focused on learning.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
